Speyside whisky distilleries

Speyside, the country around the River Spey in north-east Scotland, has more whisky distilleries than any other part of the country. Many of the best-known single malt names are here, often only a few miles apart.

That makes it the easiest region to visit several distilleries in a day or two. Speyside whiskies are often described as fruity and elegant, and many are matured in sherry casks.
